The DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Art, a non-profit institution based in Athens, was established in Geneva in 1983 by collector Dakis Joannou, together with curators Adelina von Fürstenberg and Efi Strousa.

Every year, curator Dimitris Antonitsis presents the Hydra School Projects (HSP) at the Paleo Gymnasio, or “old school,” on Lignou Street, a historic building that played an important role during the Greek revolution.

The Hydra Workshop, a waterfront art space curated by London-based art patron Pauline Karpidas, puts together an annual exhibit of both established and new artists.

Hydrama holds outdoor evening performances in the Hydrama amphitheatre in Vlychos.

The Melina Mercouri Hall is run by the Municipality of Hydra, which leases the space for art exhibitions. It is housed in a large stone building located on the east side of the harbor as you head toward Mandraki, past the Historical Archives and Museum, before the canons and the statue of Miaoulis.

The open air cinema, the “Gardenia,” in Hydra Town, located on Oikonomou Street, shows a variety of Greek, English-language, and foreign films on Monday and Tuesday nights during the summer.

The Saronic Chamber Music Festival is a unique artistic meeting, where the diverse musical influences and backgrounds of the performers and audience are brought together by the universality of this great music.
