The nearest airport to Hydra is the Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (airport code ATH).

Most people flying to Greece and traveling directly to Hydra either take a taxi or catch the X96 bus to Piraeus, where they can take a hydrofoil directly to the island. (more…)

Taxis are available at the taxi rank outside the arrivals area at the Athens airport. It is also possible to book a taxi through a private service. Athens Airport Taxi offers an online booking service as well. Fares from the airport to Hydra will run around 250 euros one way. Greece Taxi also offers transfer service from the Athens airport to Piraeus.

By car

From Athens the driving distance to Metoxi, a village on the Peloponnese across from Hydra, is about 150 to 180 km. The trip should take about 2.5 hours. (more…)


Hydra by Flying Dophin or Cat (Hydrofoil)

After you arrive at Piraeus either by bus or taxi, you will catch a flying dolphin or cat to Hydra. Boats depart several times daily and the trip takes between 1.5 and 2 hours. Two companies provide service to Hydra:
