Donkeys | Hydra Harbor

Because people on Hydra get around mostly on foot, they often hire muleteers to transport larger items, baggage, and heavy shopping up the mountain to their homes. There are donkey men who specialize in giving tourists rides, and they often ride their donkeys around themselves; generally, however, Hydriots and island residents do not hire donkeys transport themselves to their destinations (barring emergency or necessity). Water Taxis | Hydra Harbor

Those who wish to travel between Hydra’s villages without walking can hire a water taxi. The water taxi rank is located in Hydra Harbor in front of the Alpha Bank and Gonia Cafe. You’ll probably see lots of donkeys standing around as this is also the area where muleteers wait for customers. (more…)
