Getting to Hydra is a lot easier compared to years past, with several different options now available in addition to the flying dolphins and cats leaving from Piraeus. This is a blessing, particularly when those boats don’t run, due to weather or strikes, leaving travels stranded on either side of the Saronic.
Athens Airport to Piraeus
Visitors can get from the Athens International Airport to Piraeus by taxi, bus, or metro.
Hydrofoil from Piraeus
The flying dolphin or cat from Piraeus is the most common and typically the least complicated means of getting to Hydra.
Car/Taxi to Metoxi/Ermioni
Rent a car or hire a taxi to drive to either Metoxi or Ermioni, and take a boat to Hydra.
Train/Bus to Corinth/Kranidi/Ermioni
Fairly complicated bus and train options really do involve planes, trains, and automobiles.
Shuttle/Taxi from Metoxi
A regular shuttle operates between Hydra Harbor and Metoxi; alternately you can hire a water taxi for private transport.
