Car/Taxi to Metoxi-Ermioni

If for some reason you cannot or do not want to use the Hellenic Seaways service, you can hire a a private taxi to take you to Metoxi, a small wharf directly across from Hydra, or to Ermioni, a small village across from the island on the Peloponnese. Once at Metoxi, you can take the Freedom shuttle service or hire a private taxi to take you to Hydra. You can purchase tickets for the shuttle (€6,50) either on the boat or at the ticket kiosk near the entrance to the parking area. Free, unmonitored parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis on the road leading down to the pier. Or you can take advantage of Metoxi’s fully secure parking area (€5/day), which staffs a 24-hour guard. If you have a bit of a wait, there is a small taverna/shop for beverages and light refreshments located in the square just before the ticket kiosks and the car park.

Between March and November, the best option for getting to Hydra from Ermioni is Christos Akliros’s HydraToursTravel shuttle. Please see their website for departure times. You can also catch catch a flying dolphin or cat (though the schedule is limited), hire a private water taxi (to come from Hydra to fetch you), or hire a land taxi to take you to Metoxi (where you can take the Freedom shuttle or hire a water taxi to come from Hydra to collect you).
