In these establishments you’ll find all the traditional Greek cuisine from the oven—moussaka, spanikopita, papoutisia, keftedies, dolmades—as well as the various salads and dips, like tsatsiki, taramasalata, melanzanasalata. Though menus are provided, be sure to visit the vitrina (window) inside to see what’s freshly made. Many tavernas serve fresh seafood, and you can choose your own fish! Or order from the grill. Greek pork chops are outstanding.
