Transportation to & from Hydra

Visitors can get from the Athens International Airport to Hydra by a combination of taxi, bus, hydrofoil, and/or water bus or taxi.

The KTEL bus service runs from the Athens station to either Kranidi (from which you can take a bus to Ermioni and catch a dolphin or take a taxi to Metoxi and catch the Freedom) or directly to Ermioni.

From Athens the driving distance to Metoxi, a village on the Peloponnese across from Hydra, or Ermioni is about 150 to 180 km. The trip should take about 2.5 hours.

Hydra Lines (Freedom I and II) runs a daily scheduled water bus service to and from Metoxi for €6.50 per passenger.

After you arrive at Piraeus either by bus or taxi, you will catch a flying dolphin (hydrofoil) or cat (catamaran) to Hydra. The trip takes about 2 hours.

If the Freedom bus service can’t accommodate your itinerary, you can hire a private water taxi to cross from either Metoxi (~40€) or Ermioni (~100€).
